Stephen Vineburg

Stephen has interests in art, film, music, and business. He has developed a conceptual art practice with a focus on using AR to explore contemporary issues. He is also an art historian with a special interest in Pietro Cavallini, the proto-Renaissance Roman fresco painter.

In 2020, he contributed two sculpture pieces to the Open Space exhibition in the Giardini Marinaressa in Venice.  In 2021, Stephen was artistic partner for “Suspension”, a digital art project which addressed the digital paradox of the duality of isolation and connection. The project was launched in partnership with the European Cultural Academy as a collateral event to the Venice Biennale.

In 2022, Stephen launched CELED, a digital art project that comprises a unique NFT, as well as a digital phone-based AR filter that triggers an 3D experience to a still image. CELED involves the re-interpretation of classical art images to address contemporary images. He has worked extensively with Areyes Studios in the development of these projects.

He is currently working on a new project involving an AR rendering to be applied to sculpture of a giant seashell.

In 2018, Stephen was Executive Producer of the award-winning, independent film, ‘Emu Runner’ which had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. In 2020, he was also Executive Producer for the short film, ‘The Story of Lee Ping’, which was a finalist at the Flickerfest short film festival and nominated for an Australian Directors Guild Award. Stephen also has a long involvement in the rock music industry. In 2018, he produced and performed on the independent EP record, ‘Go Out Tonight’ by The Professors (available as a limited vinyl release and on the Spotify platform). He has also supported and contributed to a broad range of cultural festivals, most recently ‘Sedition – a festival of art, music and pictures’ in 2019.
